Equalize with solarize


Learn how to use the Solarize filter to reduce shadows and make an image more equalized.


image 1 1. Open the image for editing.

image 2 2. Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J).

image 3 3. Add a layer mask to the current layer (Layer> Add Layer Mask> Reveal All) and with the layer mask selected, use the "Apply Image" tool to apply the following properties:

Source: filename
layer: Background
Channel: RGB
Invert: Uncheckmarked
Blending: Normal
Opacity: 100%

Click OK.


image 4 4. Set the blending mode to "Overlay" and duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J).

image 5 5. Invert the new layer and its mask (Ctrl+I).

Equalize with Solarize 6. Rollover the image on the left of this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
