Add a cinematic feel to your photos by using simple exposure and colour adjustments in Photoshop.

First choose your photo.
With your photo open in Photoshop, click on the layer adjustment button and choose Hue/Saturation.

Set the Saturation to -80.

This will have dulled the image a lot, so next we'll bring back some contrast by adjusting the exposure.

Add an Exposure adjustment layer, and increase the Exposure slightly. Then move the Offset and Gamma sliders a little to the left.

Next we'll add a vignette.

Add a Gradient Fill layer and make the gradient black to transparent, Radial, and set the Scale to 150%.

Change the Gradient layer's blending mode to Soft Light.

Next add a Photo Filter layer using the Sepia preset, and the Density set to 20%.
Now we'll blur the edges of the photo.

First duplicate the original photo layer.

Then Gaussian Blur the layer at 5.0 pixels.

Add a layer mask to the blurred layer, and click on it. Draw a black to white gradient, masking out the centre of the layer.

Next use the Crop tool to trim down the bottom and top edges of your image.

Then increase the height of your canvas, using black as the extension colour.

Here is the final outcome.
And below are a few more examples of this technique.
