Restore Metal


Add shine and restore lackluster metal.


image 1 1. Open the image for editing.

image 2 2. Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J) and change the blending mode to Overlay.

image 3 3. Use the Transform tool (Ctrl+T) to apply the following properties:

Maintain Aspect Ratio: On
Width: 200px


image 4 4. Add a Plastic Wrap filter (Filter> Artistic> Plastic Wrap) with the following properties:

Highlight Strength: 20
Detail: 15
Smoothness: 15


image 5 5. Use the Transform tool (Ctrl+T) to transform the image back to the original size.

image 6 6. Using the Brightness/Contrast tool (Image> Adjustments> Brightness/Contrast), tweak the image by adjusting the brightness and contrast.

Restore Metal 7. Rollover the image in this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
