Wet Road

Make a road look wet by adding a reflection.

image 1 1. Open the image for editing.

image 2 2. Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J) and set the new layer's blending mode to "Soft Light".

image 3 3. With the top layer selected, use the "Free Transform" tool (Ctrl+T) to distort the layer so that it resembles a reflection on the road. Press Return when done.

image 4 4. Add a layer mask (Layer> Add Layer Mask> Reveal All) to the current layer and apply a "Clouds" filter (Filter> Render> Clouds) to the layer mask.

image 5 5. With the layer mask still selected, use the "Apply Image" tool (Image> Apply Image) to apply the following properties:

Source: filename
Layer: Background
Channel: RGB
Blending: Overlay
Opacity: 100%

Click OK.

image 6 6. Use the "Eraser" tool (E) to erase all the areas around the road in the layer mask.

image 7 7. Select the top layer (not its layer mask) and unlink the current layer with its layer mask.

image 8 8. Apply a "Ocean Ripple" filter (Filter> Distort> Ocean Ripple) to the current layer with the default settings. Click OK.

image 9 9. Apply a "Motion Blur" filter (Filter> Blur> Motion Blur) with the following settings:

Angle: 90º
Distance: Height of the blur

Click OK.

Wet Road 10. To adjust the strength of the effect, change the top layer's blending mode to "Overlay" and adjust its opacity. Rollover the image in this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
