X ray effect

Simulate the tones of an x-ray camera.


image 1 1. Open the image for editing.

image 2 2. Dupliate the current layer (Ctrl+J).

image 3 3. Invert the current layer (Ctrl+I).

image 4 4. Add a layer mask to the current layer (Layer> Add Layer Mask> Reveal All).

image 5 5. With the layer mask selected, use the "Apply Image" tool to apply the following properties:

Source: filename
Layer: Background
Channel: RGB
Invert: Checkmarked
Blending: Normal
Opacity: 100%

Click OK.


image 6 6. Add a "Hue/Saturation" layer style (Layer> Layer Style> Hue/Saturation). Set the "Saturation" to "-100"

image 7 7. Set the current layer's blending mode to "Hard Light" and duplicate the layer once or more to increase the effect.

X-Ray Effect 8. Rollover the image on the left of this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
