Hex Blast


Complementary colored hexagons blasting towards the center.


image 1 1. Create a new 500x500 pixels documant and add a Clouds filter (Filter> Render> Clouds).

image 2 2. Add a Stained Glass filter (Filter> Texture> Stained Glass) with these settings:

Cell Size: 10
Border Thickness: 1
Light Intensity: 0


image 3 3. Distort the image using the Spherize filter (Filter> Distort> Spherize) with these settings:

Amount: 100%
Mode: Normal


image 4 4. Duplicate the layer (Ctrl+J) and change the blending mode of the new layer to Overlay.

image 5 5. Rotate the layer 180º CCW (Edit> Transform> Rotate 180º CCW).

image 6 6. Duplicate the layer (Ctrl+J), apply the previous filter (Ctrl+F) then repeat this step two more times.

image 7 7. Flatten the image (Layer> Flatten Image).

image 8 8. Colorize the layer using the Hue/Saturation tool (Ctrl+U). These are the settings I used:

Hue: 200
Saturation: 100
Lightness: 0


image 9 9. Duplicate the layer (Ctrl+J) and change the blending mode to Screen.

image 10 10. Rotate the layer 180º CCW (Edit> Transform> Rotate 180º CCW).

image 11 11. On the top layer, set the Hue to +180 using the Hue/Saturation tool (Ctrl+U).

image 12 12. Crop the image from the center.
