Cracked Text


1. Create a new document sized (450x450) on a black background, then use the text tool to create a letter:

2. Click 'Filter' > 'Blur' > 'Gaussian Blur' (It'll ask you the rasterize the layer, accept this) - then enter the value, Radius:2.5 pixels - now click ok.

3. Press 'ctrl and a' on the layer menu, located with the 'layers' window - this will get you the outline of the text layer, now using a the gradient tool (change the pallet to white and black) now with the gradient tool drop and drag it like shown below:

4. Click 'Filter' > 'Render' > 'Lighting Effect' and enter these values:

5. Now click 'Layer' > 'Layer Style' > 'Blending Options' - tick the following boxes: 'bevel and emboss', 'contour', 'texture' then hit OK.

6. You can change the color of the text using 'Ctrl and U' - this brings the hue/saturation window up.
