Scan Text


A short tutorial on how to produce a text effect that looks scanned. For this tutorial you wil need dot pattern effect. If you already have this then go straight to Part 2

Part 1

1. Open a new document in Adobe, with a transparent background

2. Size it 3x3

3. Zoom in as far as you can, then using your Pencil Tool, put a black dot in the middle

4. Then go Edit --- Define Pattern and call it dot

Part 2

1. Open a new document in Adobe, with a white background

2. Size it about 300x100

3. Choose a font, colour and type your word or words

4. Then 'Right Click' on the layer with the text on and go to 'Blending Options'

5. Tick 'Drop Shadow'

6. Then tick 'Bevel And Emboss'

7. Then tick 'Contour'

8. Then click 'Texture' and change the pattern to the dot you just made

9. Then click 'Stroke' and change the size to 1 and change the colour to a light grey

10. Your finished!
