Ultima Shine Text Tutorial


1. Open a new document, any size with any background color (depends on your likings or any requirements).

2. Type your text, with a nice and professional font (I recommended the Trebuchet MS font). Again, any colors depending on your likings.

3. Press "D" and then "X" to apply Default FG an BG colors.

4. Create a new layer on the top of the Text layer. After typing your text, press Ctrl (Control) and click on the text layer from the Layers small window.

5. Take your gradient tool, press Shift and apply a medium effect from top to the bottom of the text. (Before doing this, check that you select the "Foreground to Transparent" gradient which should be white, #FFFFFF).

6. Take the Rectangular Marquee Tool, and select the text layer from bottom to middle on the gradient effect layer; as follows in this screenshot:

and now cut the selection. Your outcome should be as the below.

7. Almost done. This step is an extra. Go back to your text layer, press Ctrl (Control) and then select the text layer again from the layers small window. Create a new layer over the text layer. Take your gradient tool, hold Shift and now apply a light gradient effect from the bottom to the middle of the text. Here comes an example

This is the end of the tutorial. For a better look, try selecting Overlay blending mode for the effect layers. It will look like demo image below.
