Increase the mood of vacation photos by making them more vivid and sunny.


image 1 1. Open the image for editing.

image 2 2. Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J).

image 3 3. With the new layer selected, use the "Hue/Saturation" tool (Ctrl+U) to apply the following properties:

Hue: 0
Saturation: 75
Lightness: 0

Click OK.

image 4 4. Use the "Shadow/Highlight" tool (Image> Adjustment> Shadow/Highlight) on the current layer to increase the "Shadows". Select the highest amount that will reduce shadows without creating artifacts. Click OK.

image 5 5. Add a layer mask (Layer> Add Layer Mask> Reveal All) to the current layer.

image 6 6. With the layer mask selected, use the "Apply Image" tool (Image> Apply Image) to apply the following properties:

Source: filename
Layer: Background
Channel :RGB
Invert: Checkmarked
Blending: Normal
Opacity: 100%

Click OK.


Vacation Photos 7. To brighten the image, change the current layer's blending mode to "Screen". Rollover the image on the left of this step to see the original image before this technique was applied.
