Hotkeys (Keyboard Shortcuts)

image 1Hotkeys (or keyboard shortcuts) are keystrokes used to invoke a command and they usually, but not always, involve a modifier key such as Ctrl ( image 2 ), Alt (Option), or Shift. For example, instead of choosing Select > Deselect from the menus, you could simply press Ctrl+D ( image 2+D). While hotkeys not only improve the speed and efficiency with which you use Photoshop, they sometimes provide you with functionality that is otherwise unachievable (like zooming while a dialog window is open). Below are several hotkey tables which show "all" of the Photoshop's hotkeys.

Here are a couple of additional notes:
  • Mac users: Ctrl = image 2, Alt = Option (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+D = image 2+Option+D), and right-click = Control+click
