Another New Gmail Feature

Gmail has been cranking out new features left and right lately. That continues today with the addition of letting you choose your own colors.

To do so, simply click on the Settings link in the upper right hand corner of your screen, select the Themes tab, and find the "Choose your own colors" option at the bottom. From there, you can select colors for just about every element of your inbox.

"So if you love purple, now you can stare at it every day," says Software Engineer Manu Cornet at the Gmail Blog. "The color picker also allows people with visual disabilities to tweak Gmail into something more comfortable for them, whether it's increasing the contrast between colors or ridding their inbox of bright white."

Of course, you can always go back to the default color scheme. To do this, simply hit the "reset" button on the "choose your color" screen. Cornet notes that companies using Google Apps don't have the "themes" options yet, but Google is in the process of working on that.

In other Gmail news, you can now get an icon for that, along with Google Docs and Google Calendar to go on your desktop, courtesy of Google Pack. This will let you go straight to one of these programs without having to navigate there from your browser.
