Google is not known for being a big television advertiser despite the company's own platform for distributing television ads (which is getting more targeted according to recent discussions from Google).
Google is now testing those waters for itself though. The Google Japan team created a video promoting the Google Chrome browser, and the company is taking it to televisions.
"Using some of the results from our placement-targeted ads on the Google Content Network, we designed a Google TV Ads campaign which we hope will raise awareness of our browser, and also help us better understand how television can supplement our other online media campaigns," says the Google Chrome team in a post on the Google Blog.
Look out for the ad this weekend on various TV stations. Google does not specify which stations it will run the ad on, but the company has discussed partnerships with NBC Universal (which includes Sci-Fi, Oxygen, MSNBC and CNBC) and Hallmark in recent months, so those could be options.
