Cool 3D Text

Step 1

Open up a new document, 500 by 500. This is not the exact size it will be but we need space to work with. Ok create a new layer and call it text. Now grab the text tool and write with a bold big font what you want to be 3d. I wrote Adfect.net.

Step 2

Ok now that you've done that. Go click on the text, not the text layer but the actual text. Then go to layer/rasterize layer. Once you've done that go to edit/transform/distort. You will need to make the text move to its side. Look what I have done on my image. Do the same thing.

Step 3

OK, click the arrow button and press ok. Now what were going to do is go to layer/layer style and choose a color I chose the colorBBBBBB but you can choose something different. Now that you have done that your going to press these buttons at the same time ctrl,alt and the arrow up . You will do this about 5, 6 times depending on what looks good. You should have something that looks like this.

Step 4

Ok now your going to click on the top layer, that's the layer on top of all others. Then go to layer/layer style and your going to pick a color slightly darker then BBBBBB which is what my color is but yours might be different. The darker color that I chose is 838383. It should start to look really good now. Ok now once you are on the top layer go to layer/duplicate layer. Once you have that go to layer/layer style and make the color white. After you've done that your going to grab the Rectangular Marquee tool and make a selection like you see on my image.

Step 5

After you selected half of the text. Press backspace that will delete half of it. Once you have that go and make your opacity to about 20 to 25 what ever fits you best. This is what I came up with.

Step 6 (Last step)

Ok now this is the last step. Go and select the background. Then go to Layer/delete layer. You should be on a transparent checker board now right? Ok great. Now your going to go to Layer/merge all layers. Everything should be merged now. After you've done that go to layer/layer style/stroke and give it a two or three pixel stroke of a nice color that blend s in with your text. Once you did that go to layer/new layer and call it background. Once you have that layer color it in with a color and place your 3d text above it, and you should be done. Try doing more to it though, maybe add a reflection if you don't know how to do that go to our reflection tutorial in basic effects. Good luck!!!
