Changing the main colour on a wallpaper

Author: Adam Priestley More by this author

Ever got a really good wallpaper for your computer, but didnt like the colour? Here I will show you how to change the main colour to get it just the way you like it :P
1. Get your wallpaper. I cut my examples from a wallpaper called extravaganza by urban effect which can be seen here. It is the wallpaper I am currently using on my computer :)
2. Open it up in photoshop and duplicate the background layer.
3. Press ctrl+u to edit the hue and saturation, get something you like.
4. Change the layer's blending mode to hue and you are done! Changing the blending mode to hue makes the coloured bits colourful and leaves the black, white and grey bits black, white and grey.

If you want to make a dark wallpaper light, or a light wallpaper dark, when you open the wallpaper, press ctrl+i to invert it, then do steps 2-4 as normal.
