A Random Logo

Author: Andy More by this author

You ever stuck for making a logo shape for your website? Yea, it is kinda hard... here's a technique that will give you a different one.. every time!

1. Make a new image, ours is 400 x 400 - with a white background

2. Set your foreground colour to black, and make a new layer (Layer > New layer)

3. Grab your paintbrush tool, and set it to about size 120PX... now, just do some random dots on your page, make sure they rn 't too close to the edge, and the yare touching

4. Now, with your eraser.... and a small brush, maybe about 50... just delete a few parts.

5. hold CTRL (on your keyboard) and click the thumbnail of this layer on the layers palate. This should bring up marching ants around your black shape

6. On the layers palate, click Channels (or Windows > Channels), and click create new channel

7. Put your foreground to white, and fill it (ALT + Backspace) Now, deselect (select > deselect)

8. Click Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur - and give it a setting of about 30PX.

9. Now, Image > Adjustments > Levels. Play about with the settings. But the 3 points need to be RIGHT next to each other for the results we want. I had mine quite close to the middle.

10. OK, now... hold CTRL and click the thumbnail of the current channel layer (in the channels palate) and then click on an active layer on the layers palate.

11. Create a new layer and fill your selection black. (you can now delete the other layer)

12. There you have it! Your own, completely random logo! Now you can just add layer styles or what not!
