16. I have applied Lighing Effects for nearlest planet to make it more 3D.
17. Result of Lighting effect is here. It looks better, right?
18. On new layer lets draw our stars with special brush (Star, 14px), use different colors (white, blue...) and don't forget edit diameter in the Master Diameter.
Also don't forget about Clone Stamp Tool (or we will spend to much time, huh).
19. When you'll finish to work with stars, merge your background and stars' layer, but not planet. Copy Background layer, and change Blend mode of "background copy" on Overlay. Play with opacity.
When merge down and apply some lighting effects again to make our space deeper! I've applied this additional lighting effect behind my largest planet.

Tips: your result depends on lighting; details on the 2d step; gradient map (applied or not, if "yes": which gradient do you use).
