Spotlight
Select the layer with the candle and create a new layer. Fill the new layer with yellow.
Select Filter > Render > Lighting Effects and apply this effect with the following settings:
Set the Blend Mode of this layer to Soft Light and Opacity to 50%.
Christmas Twigs
Now, let's decorate the candle with some modified needles to give the image a definite Christmas look. We'll need Custom Shape tool for the purpose. You can find a suitable shape in Nature.csh file. Download the shapes from the file and choose the one indicated in the picture below.
Place this Shape into your document:
Make selection of this layer.Create a new layer and fill it with dark green (#005544). After this, you can deselect the layer and delete Layer "Shape 1".
Set the following styles for the layer:
Now duplicate the layer twice and arrange each of the 3 layers the way it's done in the picture.
Draw Lines
This completed, we can go on to creating a new layer. Select the Brush tool (Brush: 3px; Flow:70%) and draw a red line (#FF0000) down the full length of the candle.
Applay Filter > Distort > Wave with these settings:
Duplicate this layer and select Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. Merge these two layers using Merge Down and set the Blend Mode to Overlay.
Using Free Transform tool move and transform these lines placing them over the candle so that they fit the size of it.
Apply the indicated style to this layer:
And at last, enjoy the final result!
