Chrome Superman S Shield

Create a document 450 x 450 with a black background

step 1

Use the pen tool to outline the shield shape (look below)

Create a new layer. Load the selection from the masked layer and fill in the selection on the new layer.

Now go to Select > Modify > Contract. Contract the selection 15 pixels. Hit delete.

Using the font "Century" type in an "s" that is 400 px (lowercase)

Rasterize the text layer and the the transform tool (ctrl + T)

Transform this time, except you want to use the "distort" option. (on right click menu)

Merge the "s" layer and the shield layer. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Use 3.0 pixel radius. Now load the selection, and go to the channels menu shown below. Create a new alpha layer, and fill in the selection (from the layers menu)

Now go to Image > Adjustments > Levels (Ctrl + L) and move all three arrows to the middle.

After you hit enter, the logo will flow together and look smooth.

Load the selection, go back to the layers tab, and on a new layer fill in the selection with a gradient fill like below.

Go to Image > Adjustments > Curves. (ctrl + M) and do something similar to below.

Now go to Filter > Artistic > Plastic Wrap. Use these settings.

Add these settings to the layer blending modes.
