Create Pixel Buildings

1. Start with a new document 200 x 650. Make an outline like this one.

2. The top should look like this. Take note of how many pixels make up the joining halfs. It should be at least 4.

3. Add windows for the building on a new layer. I made a row and duplicated it, that will help you save time.

4. Start filling in the windows randomly with a blue color. Make sure it is a light blue, not too dark.

5. The whole 2 halves look like this.

6. Pick 3 more colors, light to dark, and fill the rest of the windows in randomly.

7. Make the top the lightest, and one of the two sides brighter, depending on your light source.

8. Add highlights to rough edges to smooth them down. It makes a nice plastic look that is characteristic of pixel art.

9. Add a stairway box if you wish, keep the shading principles in mind here!

10. Add a sign if you want to, and make a nice sheen effect on the sign.

11. The text should be in a pixel font. Use the transform > distort/perspective tool to make it at an isometric angle.
