Drawing a Cute Cartoon Cat in a Basket

Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown. We'll apply this layer style to every layer.

Enable add to shape area from the top bar. Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right Click and select Warp. Adjust the nodes to get the shape as shown.

Similarly create another rectangle, warp and place as shown.

Create a shape as shown using pen tool.

Similarly create more shapes and place as shown.

Create a circle using elliptical shape tool. Fill it with the same color we used for the face. Enable add to shape area from the top bar. Create another circle using elliptical shape tool.

From layer menu select layer style>>create layers. Select and merge all the resulting layers. Select eraser tool and remove the top part as shown.

Create an ellipse for the nose using elliptical shape tool.

Create "Shield" shape using custom shape tool. Move this layer right below the mouth layer in layer order in layer palette.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

Create eye brows using pen tool.

Create a big black circle using elliptical shape tool. Create a white circle and press Ctrl+Alt+G to create a clipping mask. Create a small black circle for the eyeball and place as shown. Select all three eye layers. Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click and select Flip Horizontal and place on the other side.

Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Enable add to shape area from the top bar. Create another ellipse using elliptical shape tool. This will create an ear of the cat.

From layer menu select layer style>>create layers. Select and merge all the resulting layers. Select eraser tool and remove the bottom part as shown.

Repeat the above steps to create ear details.

Select eraser tool with soft brush settings and remove the bottom part as shown.

Duplicate the ear layers. Press Ctrl+T. Right click and select Flip Horizontal and place on the other side. Create two ellipses for the cheeks using elliptical shape tool.

Create some ellipses as shown. Create some lines using 2 pixel solid brush tool.

Now the cat is complete, we'll create the basket. Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right Click and select Warp. Adjust the nodes to get the shape as shown. Place it as shown.

Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Enable "subtract from shape area" at the top bar. Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.

Create another rounded rectangle with some darker shade of brown using rounded rectangle shape tool. Press Ctrl+T. Right Click and select Warp. Adjust the nodes to get the shape as shown. Press Ctrl+Alt+G to create a clipping mask.

Similarly create more rounded rectangles, wrap and place as shown.

Select and merge all the layers. Duplicate layer. Enable lock transparent pixels from layer palette. Press Ctrl+T. Right click the layer and select distort. Fill it with dark blue color. Adjust nodes to create a perspective shadow. Move this layer below all the layers in layer order in layer palette.
