Making a Shiny Smilie

Make a new document, 1000x1000 pixels black background.

On a new layer, with the eliptical marquee tool, create a perfect circle (keep pressed the Shift key) and fill it with white.

Apply a 6 px stroke layer style (Layer -> Layer Style -> Stroke) of color #B59605 to the circle.

Apply the following gradient to the shape.The colors of the gradient are: #D8D635 - #FFE617 - D6AD00

Create a new layer. Set foreground color to white. Use the selection tool to create a circular selection smaller than the shape.

Select the paint brush tool and select size 150 px soft brush. Paint on the selection with white like in the example, then set the layers opacity to 50-60%. You should have something like this:

Now, to create eyes, mouth and eyebrows, it is really up to your own imagination and skills, play around to get different facial expressions. All this will be done with the pen tool, I hope you can use it well.

Note: I used a little shadows on the eyes Have fun and experiment as much as you can.
