Motion Blur Signature

Before starting we are going to need a few things: brushes, fonts, and renders. The links are posted below so just right click and “save as” to your desktop. To install, just simply drag the brushes to the following directory: My Computer -> Drive C -> Program Files -> Adobe -> Adobe Photoshop -> Presents -> Brushes. And drag the fonts to the following directory: My Computer -> Drive C -> Windows -> Fonts. Note that I didn't create these so credits to whoever made them!

Brushes: Abstract vs Grunge, Intoxicated Kiss 01, Intoxicated Kiss 03, TB Grunge, Tranquil, Zellow
Renders: Anime Girl
Fonts: Sanserifing

Let's begin by creating a new 400x100 template and filling the background black.

image 1

Now create a new layer and set the foreground color to white. Have the TB Grunge brush selected (right click on template, click on the arrow button at the top right, and select brush) and just randomly start brushing.

image 2

Create another new layer and switch to the Tranquil brush. Do the same thing and just randomly brush the template.

image 3

Create a new layer again and set the foreground color to black. Have the Intoxicated Kiss 03 brush selected and again just randomly start brushing.

image 4

Next create another new layer and set the foreground color back to white. Have the Intoxicated Kiss 01 brush selected and just randomly start brushing.

image 5

This is getting redundant, but create another new layer. Have the Abstract vs Grunge brush selected and do the same thing again.

image 6

Now something new, go to image -> adjustments -> color balance and apply the following settings or whatever suit the signature best.

image 7

Next go to image -> adjustments -> brightness/contrast and apply the following settings or whatever you see fit.

image 8

Drag and drop your render into the template and resize it. Then apply a dreamy glow effect to it; if you don't know how you can learn how by clicking here!

image 9

The next part is where the motion blur comes into effect. Duplicate your render and go to filter -> blur -> motion blur, set the radius to 125 and the blending option to hard light.

image 10

Duplicate the blurred image multiple times and drag them across the template so that you get something like below. And if you see like lines between the images just simply feather to get rid of them, a radius of 20 works best by the way.

image 11

Now create a new layer and have the foreground color set to white. Select the Zellow brush and randomly brush once again.

image 12

Remember those images that you just blurred? Now duplicate each of them and move them up so that they show a different set of colors. For the render that I used, the top half was a pinkish color and the bottom half was a bluish color. So by blending the two you get a mix of both.

image 13

Now go back to that render of yours and duplicate it again. Have the bottom layer selected and go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and set the radius to 3. Notice the slight difference?

image 14

It is now time to give that signature its identity by adding some kind of unique text to it. I spelled out Instruire des Jours, which means School Days in French. Basically the font color is white and the first letter of every word is black. And for that extra something you can set the opacity to 75%-100%.

image 15

Duplicate the text twice so that there is a total of three. For the text on top go to filter -> blur -> gaussian blur and set the radius to 3. For the text on the bottom go to filter -> blur -> motion blur and set the radius to 45.

image 16

Now it is time to apply the finishing touches to the signature. We're going to create a border so to do this go to edit -> stoke and set the color to black and the width to 5. Now delete the widths of the border leaving only the length. And for that extra something you can set the opacity to 75%-100%.
