Part I: Introduction

Welcome to the interlaced objects tutorial. Here we will learn how to make objects have a ceirtain depth at ceirtain points of the image.

If you don't get the concep very well, just keep on reading and you will see the nice effect this is :)

Part II: Our Objects

first, let's make a ring by drawing a circle and then cutting the inside with the eliptical marquee tool:

Then we apply some bevel and emboss (just to give it 3d shape) ... of course, you can leave this to your taste, but this is what i used for the tutorial

Ok... you might want to tilt it a little so it has a better shape :P... and for simplicity, let's make another one so we have two of them:

ok... now we have two objects... but they're not interlaced, follow us to part three so you can see how to do that :)

Part III: Getting Down To The Business Of Interlacing

ok... first, let's imagine that the Southeast and Northwest Part of the ring Above are going to be Below the other ring... first we have to duplicate the new ring and place it below the first ring, like this:

After we have the two layers, we must merge them into an empty layer so the blending changes we did dissapear... don't worry, it's something like this:

do this to both layers of ring 2 so the blending doesn't affect anymore. we go back to the top one and select the parts that are going to go the object like this:

and delete them... then we invert the selection and delete them on the bottom layer... the output is this:

Object Interlacing Tutorial: Final Result

as you can see, these rings are now interlaced

PART IV: The Conclusion

This effect can be applied to various shapes and forms to make incredible "3d" renders in photoshop...

i hope you enjoyed reading this as much as i did writing it :) for any requests, post them on the forum of the site and we will write you a personalized tutorial about it :).
