Real Sphere with an Inscription

Step 1

Open photoshop and create the new image 450x450 pixels and a new layer on it(him). Make an invisible background (Background). Take tool Elliptical Marquee Tool, press Shift and create circular allocation. Then choose forward color: R 76, G 113, B 235. Fill a circle pressing Alt+BackSpace. Rename a layer in Bosco Sphere.

Drag layer Bosco Sphere on the button of a new layer to duplicate a layer. Click on a small eye to the left of layer Bosco Sphere, it will hide it(him) (layer, instead of an eye). Now we shall narrow allocation on 30 pixels: Select> Modify> Contract..., then on 15 pixels also repeat this action once again. Select> Feather (Ctrl+Alt+D), radius - 25 pixels. Remove allocation by pressing Delete, cancel allocation (Ctrl+D).

Create a copy of layer Bosco Sphere copy. Rename it(him) in Glow. Put a tick on Lock Transparent Pixels. Fill the image white. Establish Blending Mode on Color Dodge and a transparency on 65 %.

Keeping Ctrl, click on original Bosco Sphere a layer. Create a new layer. Rename it(him) in Shadow. Then choose forward color black. On a new layer fill allocation (Alt+BackSpace), and then, using tool Marquee Tool, move a zone of allocation upwards on 65 pixels (see figure). Press Ctrl+Alt+D. Establish radius of 45 pixels. Delete. Cancel allocation (Ctrl+D).

Establish opacity of layer Shadow on 65 %. Duplicate layer Shadow. A transparency of layer Shadow copy put 20 % and Blending Mode on Color Burn.

Keeping Ctrl, click on original Bosco Sphere a layer. Now create a new layer and name it(him) Highlight. Take forward color black. Fill allocation (Alt+BackSpace). Establish Blending mode a layer on Screen. Change opacity to 50 %.

Filter> Render> Lighting Effects

Change Light on Omni (Blue Omni for Photoshop CS2). Establish illumination on the left top edge of a sphere.

Put parameters:

Intensity: 90
Gloss: 100
Material:-90
Ambience: 0
Exposure: 0

Press OK for reading light, and then go: Image> Adjust> Auto Levels.

Create a copy of layer Highlight. Set Blending Mode a new layer on Color Dodge and opacity on 50 %. Your image should to be looked is similar to that you see on the right. But the sphere yet does not reflect...

Open any image which can be loaded. Press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C. Come back to the document with a sphere.

Step 9

Keeping Ctrl, click on layer Highlight. Edit> Paste Into. Rename the created layer in Bosco Reflection.

Keeping Ctrl, click on a small circle to the right of a layer, for a choice of a mask of a layer.

Filter> Distort> Sphereize... 100 % Cancel allocation and establish opacity of a layer on 25 % and Blending Mode a layer on Hard Light.

Step 11

Real Sphere with an Inscription Tutorial: Final Result

1. To insert the text or a trade mark into a sphere, establish object in the middle of a sphere, keeping Ctrl, click on layer Highlight. Filter> Distort> Sphereize. Then change Blending Mode on Vivid Light.

2. For change of color of a sphere, click on layer Bosco Sphere copy. Put a tick on Lock Transparent Pixels. Fill the image dark color.
