Create a great looking gear to use on your website interfaces!
1. Create a new 400x400 RGB file , 72DPI
2. Create a new layer, use polygon tool, set side number to 48.
3. Use direct selection tool, select points like this
4.CTRL + T (free transform), then press SHIFT + ALT , drag the points and make them look like this
5. Convert path to selection, fill selection with brown, then go to Select-->Modify ---> Contract, 4 pixels
6.Create new layer, use radial gradient tool, fill the selection, add 2% noice, double click on layer 2 in layer panel, select drop shadow, default settings, then select inner glow, set opacity to 50%, size is 10pix, then select bevel and emboss, style: pillow emboss, size: 2, depth: 100%.
7. Keep the layer style dialog box open, select gradient overlay, select the gradient set shown below.
CTRL+B, adjust red and yellow to higher level
8. Create new layer3, fill with black, add 50% noice, apply filter --> blur --> radial blur, amount:30, method: spin. Set opacity of this layer to 60%, align the center of the spin with the center of the gear, CTRL+ click on layer 1, CTRL+SHIFT+I inverse selection, tab DELETE. then set the blending option of layer3 to differences
9. Create new layer4, drag a circle selection in the middle of the gear, fill with black, do NOT deselect selection, selection layer3, tab delete to delete the part inside the selection double click on layer4, select bevel and emboss, size is 2, then set the blending option of this layer to lighten
10. Duplicate layer4 (layer4 copy), CTRL+T transform and reduce the size of this circle, CTRL+click on layer4 copy, delete the parts inside this selection on layer 1, 2, 3 and 4. There we go
