We'll begin this tutorial, by creating a new canvas with a size of about 300 x 300 pixels. Make sure the foreground is 1A62BD, then go ahead and draw a circle using the "Ellipse Tool" while holding the "Shift" key in on your keyboard.
Now that you have your circle, you can now right click on the circle layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Inner Glow".
Do not click OK yet... still more to do
Lets give it some color now by clicking on the "Gradient Overlay ". I chose ABE0FA, for the foreground color.
You may now click OK.
You should now have the below image if done correctly.
Now grab the "Pen Tool" and draw the top part of the ornament as I have already done below.
I now added some decorations but you can add whatever you wish. I used white as the color and then turned down the opacity to about 50%.
Now grab the "Pen Tool" once again and draw the cap of the ornament as I have already done below. Foreground color is white.
Now that you have your cap drawn, you can now right click on the cap layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Drop Shadow".
Do not click OK yet... still more to do.
Now click on "Gradient Overlay".
You may now click OK.
You should now have the below image.
Now using the "Pen Tool" draw the ring that sits atop the cap.
Now that you have your ring drawn, you can now right click on the ring layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Inner Glow".
You may now click OK.
You should now have the below image.
Now grab the "Brush Tool" using 1A62BD as your foreground color with a brush at a size of 50 and the blend mode set to "Color Dodge." Create a new layer and click on the ornament where I did below. This will give it a bit of a highlight that I feel is much needed.
Now grab the "Brush Tool" once again, using white as your foreground color with a brush at a size of 25 and the blend mode set to "Normal." Create a new layer and click right in the center where you last clicked as I have done below.
Now grab the "Brush Tool" using 1A62BD as your foreground color with a brush at a size of 50 at 45% opacity and the blend mode set to "Multiply." Create a selection that fits snuggly around the ball of the ornament, create a new layer and begin to brush on both the right and left sides to give it depth. I also added a bit of depth to the bottom as well.
Now grab the "Brush Tool" again using 1A62BD as your foreground color with a brush at a size of 35 at 30% opacity and the blend mode set to "Color Dodge." Create a selection that fits snuggly around the ball of the ornament, create a new layer and begin to brush on both the right and left sides to give it depth.
The Results
I've added a few simple extras but as you can see, it has turned out pretty nice. What do you think?
