3D Ball (Using Lens Flare and Polar Coordinates)

Note: This tutorial was done using Adobe Photoshop 7.0

1. Open a new window with WIDTH 300, HEIGHT 300, and black background. Go to Filter > Render > Lens Flare and choose Brightness: 105% Lens Type: 105mm prime. Adjust the position of your flare with your mouse as shown below.

Click OK.

2. By now Lens Flare filter should be applied. Now go to Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. Make sure you have chosen Polar to Rectangular. Click OK.

3. By now your image should look like this:

4. Now go to Image > Rotate Canvas > Flip Canvas Vertical.

5. Go to Polar Coordinates again but this time choose Rectangular to Polar. As you see our Sphere can be seen already.

6. Choose the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M) to create a round selection around the sphere as shown below.

Choose Select > Inverse ( Ctrl + Shift + I) and hit delete button on your keyboard to delete the selected sides around the sphere.

7. Now go to Image > Adjustment > Color Balance ( Ctrl + B) and play with the sliders until you get the desired color.
