This tutorial shows how to create a popular break-out or pop-out of the frame effect on your photo. The effect is not particularly difficult to achieve and is very good for creating a very strong feeling of motion.
1.Open your image and make a copy of background layer.
2. Now we should make a selection of the part of the image that would pop out of the photo. In this case it's the front of the car and its wheel. I used magnetic lasso and polygonal lasso tools. You can use quick mask or one of the selection plug-ins.
3. Copy the selection to a new layer (CTrl+J). This layer should now stay on top of all the others.
4. Staying in the main picture layer choose Custom Shape Tool and add a frame shape to the picture. I used white color for it. The use of the shape tool allows you to place the frame precisely, as you can perfectly see the image.
5. It's good now to create a new layer with transparent background between the cutout and the image. Merge the shape layer with it.
6. Now select background outside the frame. Click the image layer and delete everything outside the frame on it.
7. You can merge the frame and the image now and have your image in a frame. To give the frame some volume I added a layer style Bevel and Emboss to it.
8. The selection in the top layer perfectly matches the image, naturally, and you have the effect almost ready with just a few final touches needed. One of them is the shadow - in my image the shadow falls very strongly to the left and in front of the car it's completely hidden under it. But in most images you'll need to add some shadow to the selection. Use dodge tool or a very soft brush for it.
9. I also created another layer to make a background for the framed image and filled it with a bluish color.
10. Finally, you can use free transform tool to create the effect of a standing framed photo. Don't forget to add a shadow to it.
