Correcting Cell Phone Photographs

Photographs taken with most cell phone cameras are usually creates low contrast image. In this tutorial, you will learn how to quickly improve photographs taken with a cell phone camera.

1. Open the image for editing. For this tutorial, select an image taken with a cell phone or a low quality camera. |

2. Use the Shadow/Highlight tool (Image> Adjustments> ShadowHighlight) to set the "Shadow Amount" to "50%". Click OK. |

3. Apply an Auto Levels (Shift+Ctrl+L), Auto Contrast (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+L), and Auto Color (Shift+Ctrl+B). |

4. The vignetting has is gone and the colours and contrast are corrected. Rollover the image in this step to see the original image before this technique was applied. |
Photographs taken with a cell phone camera are usually very low quality due to the small image sensor. This tutorial was made as simple as possible to allow for the creation of an action. Consider making this tutorial an action if you have many photographs taken with a cell phone camera.
