Correcting Underwater Photos

Correct the colors and contrast of underwater photos.


image 1 1. Open the image for editing.

image 2 2. Duplicate the current layer (Ctrl+J).

image 3 3. Apply an "Average" filter (Filter> Blur> Average).

image 4 4. Invert the layer (Ctrl+I).

image 5 5. Change the layers' blending mode to "Overlay".

image 6 6. Add a "Photo Filter" adjustment layer (Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Photo Filter) and apply the following properties:

Filter: Warming Filter (85)
Density: 25-75%
Preserve Luminosity: Checkmarked


image 7 7. Use the "Shadow/Highlight" Tool (Image> Adjustments> Shadow/Highlight) to increase the "Highlights".
