From Scanning to Adjusting Image

Note: This tutorial is done by Adobe Photoshop 7.0

1. First download this image to work on it, I have scanned this image using HP Scanjet 2200c. This is a bar code of one of my books.

2. As you see the image is not straight here, we will try to make it straight then give it a better look. Open it in Photoshop, and select the Measure Tool (Shift + I)

And draw a line on the image parallel to the white line below the bar code as shown below

3. Next go to Image > Rotate Canvas > Arbitrary when you see the pop-up window just click OK.

4. Now your image must be straight already, go ahead and crop the sides, so it looks neat.

5. Now we have a straight image but it needs color adjustment, next we are going to adjust its color.

6. Different images need different kind of color adjustments, and different people adjust the images in different ways. This method of mine therefore is not the absolute way to adjust the image. There are many other ways to get a similar result.

Go to Image > Adjustments > Curves (Ctrl + M)

7. Try to make similar curve as mine here.

8. Finally you should have this pretty good result. We have made colors more vivid and clean. Go ahead and correct your images now! ;)
