1. Find or open photo of child (Good website with free photos - Stock Exchange). I chose this one: Tommy Baby
2. Open it and resize if you want.
3. Find a nice rusty image. Once again using Sxc, I found this: Burnt Paint
4. Copy it to new layer and change the blending mode to Multiply.
5. Click on "Add Layer Mask" button, located under layer list.
6. Using black brush paint areas around boy to remove rust from them.
7. Play with levels and other setting on base layer if you want. Look at my previous tutorial: Optimizing Photo
8. Find some mechanical parts, or maybe you have already some. Engine
9. Open engine photo.
10. Use Magic Wand Tool, click on white background, press Ctrl+Shift+I to select inverse and copy selection (Ctrl+C).
11. Paste it to our work and resize it. Place it on the head. Set mode to Overlay and use Eraser to smooth it.
12. Set opacity to 75%, apply Sharpen filter (Filter -> Sharpen -> Sharpen). Fade it (Edit -> Fade Sharpen, 100%, Lighten Color)
13. Once again open and paste an engine. This time we'll use only this part so erase rest.
14. Move it near eyes, resize.
15. Play with Distort and Skew (Edit -> Transform) until you have something like this:
16. Using Burn Tool paint areas on your base layer under eye.
17. Erase second eye.
18. Paste some parts of engine in the place of erased eye.
19. Using Lasso Tool select something like this on your base layer.
20. Press Ctrl+J.
21. Once again open and paste your engine. This time resize and place it on hand. Hold Ctrl and click on thumbnail of your duplicated layer (This one from the 20th step). Press Ctrl+Shift+I to inverse selection and press Delete.
22. We have a mechanical hand, but we have to improve it a little bit.
23. Open Blending Options of hand's layer and set Inner Shadow like that:
24. Reduce layer's opacity to 80%, add Mask Layer and using black soft brush paint to have something like this:
25. Select your upper layer, then click on small circle icon under your layer list and select Photo Filter (Sepia, 100%).
26. Now select Filter -> Render -> Lightning Effects, choose Flashlight and point it to the head.
27. Done!
