Open the image Centurion.jpg in Photoshop and from the tool box select the Free hand Lasso and dragging the lasso around the subject keeping it as close as you can- zoom in close using the zoom tool. Once the selection has been completed go to Edit menu and chose Copy - We can now close this image.

From the Edit menu select Paste this will paste the centurion on to the background as a new layer by default named Layer 1. Selecting the Eraser tool with a small soft edge brush carefully start removing the excess background from around the centurion. This can be a slow process but the hard work will be worth it in the end.

The group of officers were roughly selected using the free hand lasso copied and pasted on to our image. They were reduced in size using the Transform tool. Image > Transform > Free Transform. To blend the image with the background select Luminosity from the blend modes drop down menu on the layers palette and reduce the Opacity to around 40% - a great trick when working on a montage.

To add the text to our image call up the text tool from the tool box. Clicking down on the image the text layer will appear in the layers palette Layer 3 and we can type in the text of our choice. Hit Enter and the text layer will now show the first few words of the text. The font, size and even colour of text can all be changed in the options bar. To give our text that 'Movie style' look click on the T icon on the Option bar and this opens the Warp Text palette, under style we selected Bulge from the drop down menu and click OK to apply.

To make the text even more prominent we can use the Layer Styles found in the Options bar palette well . Bevel was selected from the drop down menu, Simple Inner was chosen. It is also worth trying Drop Shadow and Outer Glows - Heavy was selected. Layer Styles can really add some great special effects to your text.
