Smoke Effect on Product Designs

Step 1:

Let's start out by creating a new file. I used a 400x300 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Now insert a product design you want add effect on, in this case a picture of a new era fitted hat. Make sure the product picture has its own layer.

Step 2:

Now duplicate your product picture layer and go to Filter > Sketch > Chrome. Apply the settings below.

Step 3:

Set the layer's blending mode of your chromed product design layer to Lighten at 61% opacity.

Step 4:

Now duplicate your smoke design layer from step two. Then go to Image > Adjustments > Color Balance. Apply the settings below.
