Turning a Woman into a Statue of Sand

Start by opening an image of a girl on beach.

create selection of the girl using pen tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

Ctrl+Click the layer to get the selection. Select the image layer. Press Ctrl+J to copy paste the selection in a new layer. Move this layer above all the layers in layer order in layer palette.

From select menu click "Color Range". Click on skin color using eyedropper tool.

Press Ctrl+J to copy paste the selection in a new layer.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

Change the layer mode to "Difference" from top of the layer palette.

Select and merge all the layers except tech image layer. Duplicate the layer. From "Filter" menu select "Blur>>Motion Blur". Apply settings as shown.

Change the layer mode to "Dissolve" from top of the layer palette.

This will create the fallen sand effect.
