Tonal Adjustments: Tone Up + Fix Color (Video Included)

1. Open your image.

It seems that the film was overexposed. We have to brighten it up and adjust color.

2. Create an adjustment layer Levels.

3. First, let's fix the levels for RGB (composite) channel. On the histogram graph you notice some lack of highlights. Move "light" Input Levels slider to brighten the highlight areas (movie).

4. As you can see, there is too much cyan (equal to "not enough red") color in the image. To reduce cyans select Channel: Red and move "light" Input slider to add some reds (movie). Then slightly pull the "dark" Output slider to reduce cyans

.5. Now you may notice a certain magenta slope. Select Channel: Green. Move Input Levels sliders to remove any hues from the neutral colors (sidewalk, bride's dress, etc.).

6. Select the Blue channel and slightly decrease blue (increase yellow).

7. Select the RGB channel again and fine-tune the composite image tone.
