The Vertical Type Tool creates and edits vector-based text in a separate layer:

  • In the Toolbox, select the Vertical Type Vertical Type Tool.
  • Set on the Options bar font options: family (style), size, color and anti-aliasing method*.
  • Click on the image and type.
  • While you are typing, the cursor looks like this Move Tool, so you can adjust typed text position without changing the tool.
  • To edit previously typed text, select in the Layers palette corresponding type layer and work like with conventional text editors.

* More type options are available on Character (drop-down menu: Window > Character) and Paragraph ( Window > Paragraph) palettes.
