Abstract Sunshine Rays

I am going to teach you how to take an image like this:

and add several effects to get this:

Here is it used in another example, without the last step:

Lets Get Started!

Step 1

Lets get going! First find an image... this effect can very easily be applied to anything for a cool abstract effect, i just happened to use an image with a sun. Here is my Image.

Step 2

Duplicate this layer. Go to Filter > Distort Wave, and apply these settings. This basically shears the image in different places. By ticking sine, it gives you a blocky effect.

Here is your Result:

Step 3

Set the blending mode of the layer you applied the effect to to soft light. It should look like this:

Step 4

Go to Filter > Distort >Polar Coordinates. Apply the radial one. I then moved it up so it's center was the center of the sun:

Finish Up

I did a little clean up, by erasing out where the buildings were, and airbrushing the bottom so it blended. I also turned down the opacity. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and leave comments below. Once again, here is the result:
