Blood Splatter on Metal

Realistic blood splatters on a metal surface.


image 1 1. Create a new document and add a Clouds filter (Filter> Render> Clouds).

image 2 2. Set the following properties with the Add Noise filter (Filter> Noise> Add Noise):

Amount: 10%
Distribution: Gaussian
monochromatic: Unchecked


image 3 3. Add a slight motion blur to the image using the Motion Blur filter (Filter> Blur> Motion Blur).

image 4 4. Repeat the previous filter (Ctrl+F) if necessary.

image 5 5. Create a new layer and add a Clouds filter (Filter> Render> Clouds).

image 6 6. Add a layer mask (Layer> Add Layer Masks> Reveal All) to the new layer then apply a Clouds filter (Filter> Render> Clouds).

image 7 7. Select the top layer and use the Hue/Saturation tool (Ctrl+U) to apply these settings:

Colorize: Checked
Hue: 0
Saturation: 100


image 8 8. Select the layer mask and use the Brightness/Contrast tool (Image> Adjustments> Brightness/Contrast) to set the shape of the blood. These are the settings I used:

Brightness: -8
Contrast: +95


image 9 9. Change the blending mode of the top layer to Multiply.
