Blending Text

This is a short (but effective) way of blending text to fit in with any background. It also demonstrates some blending options used for text effects.

So let's get started. The first thing you need is a signature to work with. I chose one I have already created (shown below).

The next stage is to decide what you want your text to say. This is entirely up to you. It is important that you have a theme in mind as this will affect the font you choose and, later on, the colouring. Mine currently looks like this:

Now, on to editing the font. Select the text layer and the go Layer -> Layer Style -> Blending Options.

For the first time, apply these styles and follow these settings.

Drop Shadow:
Default Settings

Inner Shadow:
Distance 1
Choke 0
Size 3

Bevel & Emboss:
Size 0
Soften 0

Colour Overlay:
Choose a light colour. I chose white (can't get much lighter!).

Stroke:
Size 1
Colour Black

Click OK to apply these styles. Should look something like this:

Now it's time to apply your colour to the image. On the toolbar go to Layer -> New Adjustment Layer -> Hue/Saturation.

Now this time the choices are yours. Fiddle around with the settings until you get the desired effect.

My settings are as follows:
Hue 180
Saturation 50
Lightness 0
Enable Colorize

Now ensure the Hue/Saturation layer is the top layer in the Layers Palette.
