1. Make a new document, 500 wide by 200 high. Then select the type tool, and write what you want. Make the colour of this text black. Ive added a blue background colour to my image, but this is not required. Now right click on the text layer and select Blending Options. Don't close this window until all steps are complete.
2. Click on drop shadow. Setup the variables as follows:
- Opacity : 100%
- Distance : 5px
- Spread : 20%
- Size : 5px
Now setup the contour so it looks like this image:
The shadow looks odd now, but the effect will be great later.
3. Now click inner glow. Set the colour to E2E2E2 and other variables as follows:
- Opacity : 75%
- Technique : Softer
- Source : Edge
- Choke : 20%
- Size : 20px
- Range : 50%
4. Now select inner shadow and set up the options as below:
In the Structure heading:
- Blend Mode : Normal
- Colour : 868686
- Opacity : 75%
- Distance : 10px
- Choke : 0%
- Size : 5px
Now set the contour to the image below:
5. Next move on to the gradient overlay options.
In the Gradient heading:
- Blend Mode : Normal
- Opacity : 100%
- Gradient : Left click on the gradient image. Set the left and right colour to 000000, and then set the middle colour to FFFFFF.
- Style : linear
- Scale : 100
6. Last Step! Select the bevel emboss option, and also the contour option.
In the Structure heading:
- Style : Inner Bevel
- Technique : smooth
- Depth : 100%
- Direction : up
- Size : 8px
- Soften : 2px
You can now click ok on the layer style window, because the effect is finished.
Although this effect requires alot of editing of variables, and is quite complicated at times its well worth it!
