1.Create a new layer 300 by 100 pixels in size. Select a colour you want your background to be. Select the text tool and type your heading/word. In this example I used arial sized at 72pt.
2. Right click on the text layer and select "blending options". Click the bevel and emboss option (see left). Then set the bevel emboss settings
3. Now (still in the same options window) under the shading heading set the opacity to 100% and the shadow mode to normal for both the highlight and the shadow. Set the angle to 120 and the altitude to 30.
Next click on the graph/diagram near the gloss contour heading. Click on the line and change it so that it looks like this:
4. This final stage now adds a stroke. In the layer style window (still) select stroke on the list of options on the left. Set the fill colour to white the size to 3, and the position to outside.
Finished. Looks really nice. You've just expirienced the power of photoshops layer styles. There are many options. This bevel can be applied to any shape, not just text.
