Dirty Style Text

Hello, in this tutorial you're about to learn how to create a "dirty style" text sample, as I call it.

1. Open a new document sized: Width: 400 Height: 150, create a new layer using Ctrl+Shift+N. call it BG and click ok. The BG is the Background layer, so it should be the bottom one. push Ctrl+A to select all and change Foreground color to #222222. Now click Alt+Backspace to fill it.

2. Select a font you like, I used Old English, the font can be easily found in Dafont.com.

Now, Open a new layer, change Foreground color to #e4e4e4, change the size to 72, locate it in the center and write with the font the text you wish to be displayed in your work.

Result:

3. Choose Brush Tool (clicking B) and choose this brush:

Change Foreground color to: #646464 and create a new layer below the text layer. now click one time in few random places under the text. (about 10 clicks totally.) Call this layer "dust1"

You should get something like that:

4. Create a new layer located above "dust1" layer and call this one "dust2". change Foreground color to: #858585 and brush as in the 3rd part. (about 6 clicks totally.)

Result:

5. Create a new layer located above "dust2" layer and call this one "dust3". use this brush:

Change Foreground color to: #aeaeae and brush as in the previous steps. (about 3 clicks totally.)

After these steps you might get result like that:

6. Create a new layer below the text layer, change foreground to #e4e4e4 and select this brush:

Attention: change the brush size to 2px.

Now pull a line from the top of the text to *almost* the bottom of the document. Repeat this step in different places over the text until you like it. Call this layer "line"

My result:

7. Now open a new layer, locate it below "line" layer and change Foreground color to #646464. Select this brush:

Brush few times below the "lines".

8. Go to text layer's layer style (Right click > Blending Options) and use this gradient:

9. Create a new layer at the top, above the text layer and choose the brush you used in step 3.

Change foreground color to #222222 and brush a bit at the edges of the text.
