Step 1: Creating the Workspace:

Begin with a 300 x 100 Photoshop Document

Step 2: Create your Stock text

Next grab the text tool (T) and write some text. For this tutorial I'm going to be using a favorite font of mine for glossy text which is impact, also for this tutorial I'm going to be using the size of 60px for the text. Depending on what your going to use your text for you can play around with the size, but to trully benefit from this tutorial I'm making it large!. Here's my example below:

You can use a different colour for your text if you like but I'm going to be using #22ce0b

Step 3: Add a gradient

Once you have the basic text done it's time to add a smooth gradient. This will evolve using the gradient overlay filter. So on the text layer right click and select blending options and tick gradient overlay and put in these results:

Once the gradient has been applied click OK and you should get something like this:

Step 4: Add some more styles

Okay so we now have our glossy gradient done. Now it's time to add some more features. Right click on the text layer again and click blending options. This time go to Drop shadow and apply these settings:

Now our text should look something like this:

A slight shadow is now visible, but it's not over yet. Again on the text layer right click on it and go to blending options then select stroke and apply these settings.

Now our text will have a nice stroke around it:

Step 5: Add the gloss

Finally we will add the glossy part that will bring out the gloss within! Create a new layer and then grab the Elliptical Marquee tool and then make a selection around the text like this:

image 8

Then right click within the highlighted area and select fill make sure these settings are in place:

Click OK and then OK again and then you should have something like this:

On the layer that has this filled in circle lower the opacity to about 46% so in your layers panel drag the opacity level to 46%:

Your final result should be something like this:
