Simple Glow Text Tutorial

Open up a new document with any type on background you want and put in your text (preferably in white, you can change the color later)

Next, duplicate the layer with the text on it and Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur on the layer above with radius 5.0

Now hit Ctrl+F a few times according to your liking (I did 2)

Now move the layer with the glowing stuff under the one with the plain text.

And now you can change the colors of the glow. To make it black, hit Ctrl+U and move the lightness slider to -100

To make it a regular color (from white), hit Ctrl+U, check Colorize, and move the lightness slider to around -50, then choose a color.
