Metallic Text

1. Start with a new document. I used 400x100 pixels with a background of colour #E1E1E1.

2. Create a new layer.

3. Change your foreground colour to black (#000000).

4. Using the Pencil tool and a 1px hard square brush, draw 2 parallel lines about 25px apart.



5. Set your foreground colour to #CCCCCC and your background colour to #666666.

6. Make a selection between your 2 black lines. You may need to zoom in to do this.



7. Select the Gradient tool, and change the gradient settings to match this.



8. Now holding down shift, drag your cursor from below the selection to just over the middle. It may take a few trys to get it looking right, but hang in there. Here is how mine turned out...



9. Now time to add some text. Type it in big, fat letters across the middle of your chrome bar.

10. Then add the following Blending Options to it.




11. Also, add Gradient Overlay with the following settings.




12. And there you have it! If you find the chrome bar too obvious, just change the opacity of it's layer to about 60-70% and this will make the text stand out more. Hopefully yours has turned out something like mine did!
