Step One: New Canvas
open a new canvas (File, New or Ctrl+N). The one I'm working with is sized at 400 x 250 pixels, with a white background.

Open Photoshop and create a new canvas that is sized about 300 x 300 pixels. You can always make the text smaller later - work large and keep your quality.
1. Create a new document (400*120).
2. Fill the background with #FFFFFF using the paint bucket tool.
3. Add an inside 1px #000000 stroke on the background layer using the bleding options (layer - layer style - blending options).
