Stone

First create a new document. Make it big because you can always make it smaller when your are ready. Create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+N) and fill it with white. Make sure that the fore- and background colors are white and black (press D). Go to Filter>>Render>>Clouds. The results are never the same but it shall look like mine up to the left. After that you add some noise (Filter>>Noise>>Add Noise). Gaussian and monochromatic checked and choose 3 %.

Leave the pic and go to the alpha channelpalett. Create a new channel. Do the same with the alpha channel but also add Filter>>Render>>Difference Clouds. As before the results are never the same but it should look like mine up to the right.

Return to your pic and go to Filter>>Render>>Lightning Effects. Light type=Directional, Texture Channel=alpha 1 and Height=Mountainous. Play around a bit. The pic shall look like mine above.

It's time to write the text. Use the Horizontal type mask tool ( ) to write your text as a channel. When you are ready press enter and then Select>> Inverse (Ctrl+Shift+I) and press delete.

It sure doesn't look like stone to me, but by adding a layer style it will. Choose Bevel and Emboss, technique - chisel hard. Make sure that contour and texture is checked. Use the texture bubbels. Make a new layer and link it to the stonelayer. Press Ctrl+E to merge the layers. Nowq it is time to give the stone some color. Go to Image>>Adjustments>>Hue/saturation (Ctrl+U)and check colorize. Drag the hue to about 30-40. Add a drop shadow to get the stone off the surface. Done!!!!! Do you want to know what I wrote? Stone in Swedish.
