Textures 2# Tiling

Part 2 of the texturising-tutorial: In this part: I will cover the tiling-principle

Note:Tiling means it can be tiled. Which means it can be placed next to each other just like tiles. Tiles are the same and flow over in each other perfectly. You are gonna need to make the edges be the same as the other side so they will touch perfectly!

Step 1

Because you need to make sure the egdes are correct, open a document of 256x128;

Step 2

Turn on the GRID by going to Edit>Preferences>Grid and choose the following options;

Right now, you can see they don't tile that nice...

Step 4

Place a copy of the main-tile in the middle of the document;

Step 5

Then use the Eraser to make it fade on the sides;

Step 6

Then turn on the grid and select the LEFT part and paste in onto the RIGHT part;

Step 7

Crop the image by pressing Image>Crop and then press CTRL+SHIFT+E to merge all layers;

Step 8

Now that it's tiling left and right, we need to tile it top and bottom!

Step 9

Place the copy in the middle again;

And erase again;

Step 11

And then finally CROP and there you have your perfect Texture!
